Muswell Hill Playing Fields are part of Phase 1 of a wildflower meadow project planned for several open spaces in Haringey.
The wildflower seeds are native and are selected for their biodiversity value. They come from a mixture of the following plants: wild angelica, red campion, white campion, ox-eye daisy, cowslip, meadow buttercup, hedge parsley, common knapweed, greater mullein, lady’s bedstraw, musk mallow, garlic mustard, selfheal, teasel and vetch.
Haringey will also plant bulbs including native bluebell, snake’s head fritillary, wild daffodil and wood anemone.
Seed planting in the rotavated meadow is courtesy of children from local primary schools Eden and Coldfall, as are the scarecrows which will soon appear.
Way markers or posts include QR codes where you can find out more about the project or go to: https://www.haringey.gov.uk/libraries-sport-and-leisure/parks-and-open-spaces/meadows-pilot-project
