Last week the Friends of Coldfall Wood and Muswell Hill Playing Field spent a happy hour collecting litter in the Wood on the Creighton Avenue side. We were joined by some friends and neighbours and three fantastic students from Fortismere School volunteering as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.
It is sad that people come to a beautiful place and spoil it for others by leaving their rubbish behind, but more positively we know that several local people quietly collect litter as they are walking around or do regular litter picks without any fuss. We are grateful to them – they make a huge difference. It was noticeable that most of the litter was in the more inaccessible places and that there are fewer dog poo bags lying around than their used to be.
Let us know if you want to join us on future litter picks. It is a satisfying experience!
