TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) are appointed by Haringey Council to do much of the maintenance of our beautiful Wood. They hold regular volunteer days and provide equipment and kit and information on the safe handling of tools so volunteers can carry out the tasks for the day. This might be building dry hedging to protect vulnerable areas of the Wood or streams, cutting back brambles to allow more sun in so other plants can thrive, or loosening compacted ground which has been trodden down so that trees can take up water.
Volunteering is fun, good exercise and you can learn a lot from the TCV staff who know and love the Wood. They will be there on Sunday 11th July and Thursday 15th July from 10am to 3pm.
If you are interested, you need to sign up as numbers have to be limited at the moment. Here is the link to the newsletter and sign up page.
It’s a really satisfying way to spend a day out in the fresh air. You don’t need to bring anything except lunch and a drink and it’s OK if you can’t stay the whole day.
